What we do

Harriet Pierpoint Consulting (HPC) is a boutique social research and expert‑advice consultancy specialising in mixed‑methods research design, data collection and analysis, evidence synthesis, and accessible reporting grounded in ethical and inclusive practice.

HPC works with clients across a broad range of sectors—including government, regulation, education, and the voluntary sector—delivering research and advisory projects.

Clients regularly provide strong recommendations, praising Harriet’s expertise and approach.

Our approach

With Harriet’s academic background and specialist expertise in vulnerability research, HPC is well placed to design and deliver ethical and robust research that is sensitive to the needs of all participants.

First developed by Harriet to strengthen service provision within the legal sector, the Universal Practice Approach (UPA) has wider applicability. Its principles translate directly into ensuring high‑quality and ethical research and the UPA therefore now guides all HPC research services.

Our services are built on four core principles:

  1. Inclusive design
  2. Co-production embedding lived experts
  3. Trauma-informed and empowering data collection
  4. Feedback loops

Curated expertise

To ensure every project has the right blend of expertise, HPC draws on a carefully curated network of highly skilled associates.

Together, we bring extensive experience across criminal justice, law, social policy, and education—allowing us to combine the right subject knowledge and technical skills for each project while maintaining the personal attention and flexibility of a small consultancy.
